In November 2017 JIFF featured the films of acclaimed Italian actor Raoul Bova, who is known to a broader audience thanks to mainstream Hollywood films such as Under the Tuscan Sun, All Roads Lead to Rome and The Tourist.
Bova travelled to Johannesburg to open the festival.
‘I am thrilled at the idea that some of the movies I’ve acted in will be screened in South Africa,’ said Bova at the time. ‘One of the best things about my work as an actor is being able to give creativity, entertainment and emotions the chance to travel across borders and cultures. I am therefore grateful for this opportunity to rediscover one of the main reasons why I decided to be an actor, many years ago.’
The Festival was free and open to the public on a first-come first-serve basis.
