The 4th annual Johannesburg Italian Film Festival took place from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 November at Cinema Nouveau Rosebank.
The 2018 festival celebrated the films of Paolo Genovese, one of Italy’s most successful contemporary directors.
Entrance was free on a first-come first-served basis. All films were in Italian with English subtitles.
The festival launched with a gala opening, which was attended and opened by Paolo Costella, the screenwriter of Perfetti Sconosciuti. Costella ran a workshop with AFDA students while he was in Johannesburg.

Perfetti Sconosciuti (Perfect Strangers)
During a dinner party, seven friends decide to play a dangerous game. They place their cellphones on the table and agree to make all texts and calls public in an attempt to prove that they have nothing to hide.
Sunday 18th, 2.30pm
Immaturi (The Immature)
A group of young guys meet again 20 years after high school, when they find out they have to retake their final exams. During the summer, they have the chance to relive the passions of their past.
